The goal was death. Tori let herself get sidetracked. For days after Tank, she ate, slept, and breathed in the memories. When she thought she’d let go of it, the voice in her head mentioned Tank and her vagina twitched. Every time she picked up the patch from his vest, rubbed the worn stitches between her fingers, she became wet. An ache grew in her belly. Her thoughts went to feeling that way again and she forgot she aged a little every day. Cancer was hereditary. She could get a tumor tomorrow and then her beautiful death would be ruined.

But it’s so satisfying. Just one more.

This wasn’t what she needed. She needed to die, so her energy must focus on that. Still, no matter how much she told herself this, every night she’d go to bed, clutch the patch in one hand, and slide her vibrator under the covers with the other. At first, the orgasms came hard and fast. They satisfied her. With each day that passed, though, the intensity waned. It wouldn’t last.

One more. Come on.

She wanted to do it again.

But need and want are different. Adults put away childish things like want. Take care of needs. Wants were a reward for a job well done. She hadn’t done the job.

Tori curled the hair on the red wig. She’d been blonde her whole life. Never considered changing it. Her mother always counselled her to remain blonde. It’s what men preferred. Even women found it pleasing. Red, though, was striking. Everyone noticed her in the red hair. Perhaps Mother was wrong.

“Scatter brain,” Tori whispered. Imagine, getting caught up in something as trivial as hair color when more important matters required her attention. It had to happen tonight. She was ready. She’d been ready for years.

If it didn’t work this time, she’d do it herself. Somehow. Could a person cut their own throat? She tried a few times after killing Tank but couldn’t bring herself to drive the blade into her skin. Her body would not cooperate. It almost felt like an outside force prevented her, but that was silly.

Tori stared at herself in the mirror. If she could figure out how to shoot herself in the chest, maybe that’d be the best way. But then her perfect breasts would be ruined.

She sighed. Dying should be simple. Easy. It shouldn’t be the hardest thing she’d ever done.

“Focus.” Tori went over the plan again. Instead of picking up a barfly, she’d go to the harbor. Prostitutes littered every corner down there and the police station wasn’t far. A couple of blocks at most. Dying there meant they’d find her before she started rotting. She’d offer some ne’er-do-well a free fuck in exchange for death. No one valued a prostitute, so there’d be no moral issue with it. No, oh dears or anything. If she chose wisely, her killer might delight in the opportunity.

She examined the wig. It was cheap. A little tacky. Tori put it over her hair and then stood before the mirror.
